The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) supported Homeless Connect, an annual event that connects people doing it tough to vital resources like accommodation, health and legal services.
The RRT have been supporting the Homeless Connect since 2015, which is a day dedicated to helping those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, making sure they don’t feel alone.
Yesterday, an army of RRT volunteers flipped burgers and fed the hungry tummies of the local community in Armidale, who were out in force to support the event.
An initiative of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC), the RRT is staffed by Church volunteers who provide catering services during a range of emergencies and charitable events.
Lloyd Grimshaw from the PBCC, said he hoped the Armidale event had connected those who are doing it tough to the services they need.
“These events highlight the vital work Homeless Connect continue to do in Armidale in both helping those in need and continuing to shine a light on the issue of homelessness,” said Mr. Grimshaw.
“It was good to see the community come out in support of those less fortunate, and simply knowing you are not alone in your struggles can make a big difference.”
Homeless Connect Day is an annual event that links people to vital services such as accommodation and housing providers, health and wellbeing, legal and financial assistance, employment, study, and general support to people who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of homelessness.
This day is delivered in an environment that maintains dignity, fosters a culture of connectedness, and encourages a sense of being a valued member of the community.
The RRT offers quality catering assistance to charitable and government organisations confronting some of humankind’s greatest challenges, including natural disasters, heart disease, cancer research and the plight of the homeless.
Across the globe, the RRT are mobilised and ready to respond where we are needed most.
