The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) are continuing delivery of Food Boxes to vulnerable people including those in self-quarantine, children in need, and families suffering from domestic violence on the South Coast of NSW.
Over the past few weeks, 128 RRT Food Boxes have been delivered to families on the NSW South Coast, including 90 boxes to Moruya Police to distribute to those in need.
As announced last month, RRT partnered up with the NSW Government to deliver thousands of donated RRT Food Boxes to families across the state.
The boxes provide food to those who may be struggling or otherwise unable to leave their home, with most recipients being unemployed workers, the elderly, those who are in self-quarantine, and families suffering domestic violence.
Thousands of RRT Food Boxes continue to be safely packed by RRT volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC), to be delivered to individuals and families all across NSW.
RRT Managing Director Ron Arkcoll said care and compassion were at the core of RRT’s outreach programs and said their goal was to deliver each food box within a 24-hour window, where possible, once the registration was received.
“COVID-19 continues to force us all to reconsider how we go about our daily lives; and so, while we’re currently not able to cook our usual RRT BBQ, we can deliver food to those in need,” he said.
“We’re asking the people of NSW – if you are in need – perhaps you’re elderly, currently without work, or in self-quarantine – please reach out and register for a free box.
“Already 128 boxes have been delivered in the NSW South Coast region including 90 to Moruya Police to distribute and the process is very simple – to register for a food box, call 13 77 88.
“Lastly, I want to again reiterate my thanks to the NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro and the NSW Government for their continued support,” he said.
Moruya Youth Case Manager Youth Command, Greg Curry, said, “we’ve been delivering Food Boxes to vulnerable people in the Eurobodalla Shire – from Batemans Bay all the way down to Wallaga Lake.”
“We have been targeting vulnerable people affected by DV, homeless issues, children and families at risk, and indigenous elders in the communities.
“I can tell you first-hand that the RRT care packages have been extremely well received and help us break down barriers, helping to establish a stronger rapport between police and the wider community.
“So, thanks again to the RRT for your generous support, it’s making a huge difference to a lot of people.”
If you live in NSW and need support, please call 13 77 88, so help can be organised.
