The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) is encouraging families who have lost their homes in the recent devastating bushfires to register to receive a $1,000 cash card and a complimentary RRT Family Food Box.
RRT has committed one million dollars to its Operation Fire Relief initiative, that aims to support families affected by the bushfires.
Over 5 days in February, RRT volunteers will visit fire ravaged towns in Northern NSW to put on a free BBQ lunch and refreshments and donate the vouchers to those who have lost everything.
While the gift vouchers are limited to those who have lost their homes, the RRT is also encouraging whole communities to come together and enjoy the activities.
Lester Sharples, RRT Operations Manager says this is an important initiative for communities in need.
“I don’t think there is a person in Australia who hasn’t been affected in some way by the devastating fires and the horrific images this summer,” Mr Sharples said.
“But what has been heartening to see is the Aussie spirit and comradery of sticking together and helping each other out in times of need.
“In that spirit we are heading out to fire affected communities to lend a helping hand and be a listening ear to people who have experienced such a traumatic time.
“Long after the cameras have gone and the attention is elsewhere, these communities will begin the rebuild and we are here to support in any way we can.”
Registrations for the $1000 voucher can be made online at https://www.rapidreliefteam.org/fire-relief-registration/
