A future-focused learning centre has been officially opened at Adelaide’s OneSchool Global campus at Aberfoyle Park, with the support of the SA Government.

The $250,000 upgrade to the learning centre will serve the 84 students at the Campus, providing a flexible, 500sqm learning space that can be adapted to suit the needs of the school community.

Regional Principal Paul Maher said the centre is equipped with a host of new technological teaching tools to support both students and teachers on their educational journey.

“At OneSchool Global our main mission is to ensure we are equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive,” Mr Maher said.

“The Learning Centre will support our development of life-ready students, as they learn how to learn, and achieve.”

The building, which can be transformed for adapted use has been designed with key elements of David Gonski’s Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools specifically in mind.

“The Gonski 2.0 report highlighted how young people will face a rapidly changing world and need higher order critical and creative thinking skills for the future’s high skill jobs,” Mr Maher said.

“This is why we are providing our students with the tools and buildings to sharpen those skills.”

Shakela Seeley from Year 11 was at the official opening of the building, which she described as “awesome”.

“We are already using it, and the technology and the learning spaces for the whole class, small groups or individual study just works so well. It is just so much more flexible and interactive,” she said.

SA Education Minister John Gardner opened the new facility, which was partly funded by the South Australian Capital Grants program.

Member for Davenport Steve Murray was also present to celebrate the opening.

“This is exactly the type of school our local community deserves and I am proud that the SA Government could play its part in contributing to its future,” Mr Murray said.
